The giant desert hairy scorpion is the largest scorpion in North America. The hairs on its many limbs help it to detect vibrations in the soil. Although intimidating looking, it's venom is actually fairly mild (comparable to a bee sting).

Like most scorpions, it fluoresces under ultraviolet light.
